Harrisburg, PA – Governor Wolf issued a state Executive Order today requiring a clear mental health check to buy guns in Pennsylvania.
A spokeswoman for the Governor told us, “In light of the recent shootings in Colorado and California the Governor felt it is necessary to protect the citizens of the state from mentally ill people getting guns.”
The new mental health check requirement will take up to 90 days to complete and can be filled out at any gun retailer. Citizens with certain ‘violence markers’ will have to undergo a psychological evaluation before being allowed to purchase a gun. Violence Markers will include; race, religion, and political affiliation.
This requirement is set to take effect on December 15, 2015.
