Menlo Park, CA – Facebook has joined the fight against terrorism and is asking for your help.
The recent terrorist attack in San Bernardino underscored the way terrorists freely use the Internet and social media. Terrorists Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik posted their Jihadist views openly on social media yet undetected by the government.
Spokeswoman for Facebook, Sarah Bellum, told us, “Facebook is saying ‘no more’. We will not allow our platform to be used for terrorism and have added a ‘report terrorist activity’ feature for our users to report terroristic activity and comments.”
The new ‘Fight Terrorism’ feature will be enabled on all user posts and comments. Clicking on a users post will allow users to report terroristic activity to Facebook and ultimately the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“Facebook is fully cooperating with DHS in the fight against terrorism” said Bellum.
Facebook which has more than 1.44 billion global users will activate the feature on January 1, 2016.
