Governor Wolf Bans Smoking Near Schools And In Public Spaces

HARRISBURG, PA – Governor Wolf issued Executive Order 2019-3 today banning smoking in all public spaces and within 500 yards of any school.

Executive Order 2019-3 Smoking Restrictions Order will be effective on July 1, 2019 and prohibits smoking in any public space or within 500 yards of school. Violations of the smoking ban are punishable by a $100 fine for the first offense and $250 for subsequent offenses.

This is the latest order from Governor Wolf to restrict smoking in the Commonwealth. In 2015 Wolf banned smoking in cars with passengers under 18.

A spokesman for the Governors office said, “Pennsylvanians deserve to breathe clean air. Nobody should be subjected to smoke while walking down the street or enjoying public spaces.”
