Lancaster Country Club Wins Bid To Host Women’s 2020 Cornhole Championship

LANCASTER, PALancaster Country Club (LCC) went all in to win the honor of hosting the Women’s 2020 Cornhole Championship.

“We have hosted the U.S. Women’s Open in 2015 and will again host the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open but we wanted to mix up. We wanted to show that Lancaster Country Club can be a venue for a number of sporting events.” explained LCC General Manager Chuck Masters.

Though bidding for the Championship is confidential LCC reportedly paid $75,000 for the rights to host the Championship.

Cornhole (also known regionally as bags, sack toss, or bean bag) is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of plastic resin (or bean bags) at a raised platform (board) with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the board scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches or exceeds the score of 21 by means of cancellation scoring.

Two women compete for the 2019 Championship title held in Phoenix, Arizona.

The 2020 Women’s Cornhole Championship will take place May 11th through May 17th 2020.

“Ticket sales to attend the event will go on sale in November and will be open to the public.” said Master.
