Muhammad Ali’s tragic passing in the early hours today has sent a shockwave through the hearts of both boxing fans, and non-boxing fans, alike. Despite the terrible news, rules are rules.
Trevor Berbick won a fight against Ali in 1981 by a 10-round decision. However, given that his final blow was the last time Ali took a punch, he technically qualifies for a TKO following Ali’s death. The World Boxing Association has changed Berbick’s decision victory to reflect the new outcome.
Berbick is now 29-11-1 (30 KOs). Ali was 74.
